Generator Watchdog: 24/7 Generator Monitoring & Maintenance in NH

We watch your generator so you never have to

Generac Authorized Dealer

How It Works

As an authorized Generac dealer, we connect your unit to our dealer account on Generac’s monitoring platform, and from that point forward, your generator checks in continuously with us: weekly self-test results, run history, battery voltage, and fault codes as they happen.

When something is off, we see the specifics: which unit, which fault, at which house. A missed exercise cycle reads differently than a low battery, and a low battery reads differently than a failed start attempt, so the response fits the problem. Plenty of issues we clear remotely from the office, including remote resets. When a unit needs hands on it, the technician we send already knows the fault code, the model, and the service history before the truck leaves Somersworth, because we maintain these machines too.

That is the whole system: your generator reports to our Somersworth office and nowhere else, our team reads it like a service department, and problems get handled while they are still small.

What Watchdog Includes

Generator Watchdog: $39/month

  • 24/7 monitoring of your generator by our office
  • Alert response: remote resolution when possible, a dispatched technician when not
  • Your annual maintenance visit, included: oil and filter change, battery test, air filter inspection, valve adjustment when your unit’s schedule calls for it, and a full operational test
  • Priority scheduling when your generator needs service

Billed monthly with automatic renewal. Some older units need additional components to connect; that is a one-time setup of $99 to $199 depending on the unit’s age, quoted upfront. Cancel anytime. If you cancel partway through a year in which your maintenance visit has already been performed, the remaining cost of that visit and the monitoring software is billed at cancellation.

The honest comparison: standalone annual generator maintenance in our area typically runs around $375, with nobody watching the unit the other 364 days. Watchdog works out to $468 a year and includes that same maintenance visit. For about $8 a month more than maintenance alone, your generator is watched every day it sits waiting.

Why This Matters

A standby generator is a five-figure machine that sits still 360 days a year, then has one job on the five days that matter. Sitting still is hard on machines. Batteries drain, fuel systems gum up, pests move in. Generac designs for this with weekly self-tests, but a self-test only helps if someone acts on a failed one.

The most common service call we get after a storm is not “install a generator.” It is “my generator did not start.” Almost every one of those was preventable.

The Maintenance Nobody Does: Valve Adjustments

Here is the maintenance item that almost every generator owner skips, because almost nobody knows it exists. Pre 2026 Generac home standby units used solid valve lifters, and Generac’s service schedule calls for a valve clearance adjustment as part of Schedule B service: every 400 hours of runtime or every 4 years, whichever comes first. For a standby generator in New Hampshire, running weekly self-tests plus a few outages a year, the 4-year clock arrives long before the hour meter does. Most units never get it.

Skipped valve adjustments do not announce themselves. The engine starts a little harder, runs a little rougher, and the wear compounds quietly until something lets go. The photo here is a rocker arm we recently replaced on a customer’s generator. That is what the end of “it seemed fine” looks like, and it is a repair that proper adjustment intervals are designed to prevent.

Here is how much this matters: Generac engineered it out of their newest engines. The next gen units use hydraulic lifters that keep valve clearance set automatically, with no adjustments needed. When a manufacturer redesigns an engine specifically to eliminate a maintenance step, that tells you what happens when the step gets skipped. If your generator was installed more than a few years ago, it has the older style engine, and someone should be checking those valves on schedule. For Watchdog members, we track when your unit is due and the adjustment is covered.

Which Generators Qualify

Watchdog covers most air-cooled and liquid-cooled Generac home standby generators manufactured 2008 and newer, provided the unit has a Nexus, Evolution 1, or Evolution 2 controller and a working Wi-Fi or 4G LTE Mobile Link module. Not sure what your unit has? Call us with the model number and we will tell you in two minutes.

Units that already have a working module connect at no extra charge. Some older units need additional components installed before they can report in; that is a one-time setup of $99 to $199 depending on the age of the unit, and we quote it before anything is installed.

You do not need to be a Loyal Lab install customer. If someone else installed your Generac, it can still be watched.

One thing we do for every unit that joins: the first visit is a baseline inspection. If your generator is already overdue for major service, we quote that catch-up work separately at member rates and get the unit back up to Loyal Lab standards first. From then on, the schedule is ours to keep, and everything on it is covered.

Frequently Asked Questions About Generator Watchdog

What is Generator Watchdog?

Generator Watchdog is our monitoring and maintenance program for Generac home standby generators. For $39 a month, your generator is monitored by our office around the clock, alerts get a response, and your annual maintenance visit is included.

The Mobile Link app can notify you that something happened. Watchdog connects your unit to our dealer monitoring platform, where our service team sees the diagnostics, fixes what can be fixed remotely, and dispatches a tech with the right parts when it can’t.

The alert comes to our office. Many issues we can resolve remotely, including remote resets. If the unit needs hands-on service, we dispatch a technician. Either way, you hear from us.

Oil and filter change, battery test, air filter inspection, a full operational test, and scheduled valve adjustments, covered for active members. New units get a baseline inspection on the first visit; anything already overdue when you join is quoted separately at member rates, then the schedule is covered from there.

On most installed Generac air-cooled units, valve clearance must be adjusted every 400 hours or 4 years, whichever comes first, per Generac’s Schedule B service. Generac’s next gen units use hydraulic lifters and no longer need this, but if your unit is more than a few years old, it does. Skipping it leads to hard starts, rough running, and eventually broken valve train parts. For Watchdog members, we track the schedule and the adjustment is covered.

Yes. Watchdog covers most Generac home standby units from 2008 and newer with a compatible controller and Mobile Link module, regardless of who installed them.

If your unit already has a working Wi-Fi or 4G LTE module, no. Some older units need additional components installed before they can connect, which is a one-time setup of $99 to $199 depending on the age of the unit. We tell you which one you are before you sign up for anything.

$39 a month, billed monthly, auto-renewing, cancel anytime. Some older units need a one-time setup of $99 to $199 to install the components that let them connect, and we quote that before you commit to anything. If you cancel after your annual maintenance visit has already been performed that year, the remaining cost of that visit and the monitoring software is billed at cancellation. No other fine print.

No. Loyal Lab is a full residential electrical shop. The same team that watches your generator handles panel upgrades, EV charger installation, and electrical repairs across the Seacoast. That matters more than it sounds: your generator is only as reliable as the panel and transfer switch it feeds, and we service all of it.
