A lot of people have asked why we’re changing our name, and it’s a fair question. We’ve been known as Quality Electric since 2018, and that name has served us well. It represents years of hard work, growth, and a strong reputation that I’m proud of. But as our company has evolved, I’ve realized that it’s time for a change not because something went wrong, but because we’ve outgrown where we started.
There are really two main reasons behind the decision: one is practical, and the other is personal.
1. The Practical Reason: Moving Beyond Generic
Let’s start with the business side of things. The name “Quality Electric” is incredibly common, it is used by hundreds of companies across the country. While it served us well in the beginning, I came to a realization: in our line of work, providing “quality work” isn’t a unique feature; it is the expectation. Almost every reputable electrician performs quality work, so having it as our name didn’t actually set us apart.
Our marketing team and I have spent years building our online presence and doing all of the SEO tactics, but with such a generic name, we risked getting lost in a sea of other home service businesses also using “Quality” in their titles. We were working hard to build a reputation, but our name was blending into the background.
I realized that we needed to build a brand that was unique, memorable, and unmistakably ours, something that went beyond just describing a standard requirement of the job and instead created a true identity that couldn’t be confused with anyone else.
2. The Personal Reason: Meaning Matters
When I started Quality Electric, the name came from a simple place. I wanted it to reflect the kind of work we do: high-quality, professional, and dependable electrical service. But over time, I realized something, almost every good electrician provides quality work. Our trade requires years of training, schooling, and experience, so high-quality work should be the standard, not the differentiator.
The more I thought about it, the more I realized that the name “Quality Electric” didn’t tell our story. It didn’t say anything about who we are, what we stand for, or why we do what we do. It described our work but not our values. That realization led me to ask a bigger question: “What kind of company do I want us to be known as, ten years from now?”
The answer didn’t come from a business plan, but from the most loyal friend I ever had, my dog, Rusty. He had been by my side through my darkest years, when I was struggling financially and personally, always greeting me like I was his hero regardless of how hard the day had been. As I looked to the future, I knew I wanted our company to embody the same unwavering spirit he showed me every day: loyalty, companionship, and trust.
I wanted to build a company that feels local and personal, not corporate or transactional, a company with a face, a story, and a purpose. That’s when I knew it was time to evolve from Quality Electric into Loyal Lab Electric & Generators, honoring Rusty’s memory and ensuring that the loyalty he gave me is the same loyalty we bring to our community.
What’s Happening in the Home Service Industry
Now, this name change isn’t just about us, it’s also about what’s happening around us.
If you’ve paid attention to the home service industry over the last few years, you’ve probably noticed that it’s changing. Many once-local companies are being bought out by private equity groups or turned into national franchises. On paper, it looks like “growth.” But in reality, it’s creating a shift that homeowners should be aware of.
When private equity steps in, the focus often moves from people to profits. The goal becomes growth, margins, and returns not the customer experience or the craftsmanship. You lose the personal touch that comes from a business where the owner is still involved, still local, and still passionate about the trade.
Now, there are some great franchise operations out there, and I respect what they’ve built. But even they answer to higher corporate structures. Decisions about pricing, promotions, or policies aren’t made by someone who lives in the same community as their customers.
When you support a truly local business, the money stays in the community. The people doing the work live here, shop here, and raise their families here. You’re not just hiring a service, you’re helping your neighbors thrive.
That’s the heart of what we want to preserve.
Why This Change Matters
As the home service industry grows and becomes more corporate, we want to move in the opposite direction toward being more personal, more local, and more connected than ever.
Our rebrand is about making sure that when you see our trucks pull up, you don’t just see another electrical company. You see a team built on loyalty, pride, and genuine care for the work we do and the people we serve.
We want to show that you can still get top-tier, professional service from a locally owned and operated company, without sacrificing that human touch.
When you call us, there’s still a good chance you’ll speak directly with me. If something goes wrong and things do happen you can reach me. You can’t say that about most corporate-owned or private-equity-backed companies.
So this name change isn’t a goodbye to what we’ve built. It’s an evolution, a way to protect what makes us different and double down on what really matters.
Looking Ahead
With this rebrand, we’re reaffirming who we are and what we stand for. We’re proud to be independent, local, and rooted right here in New Hampshire.
The work we do has always been about more than wires, lights, and panels. It’s about people solving problems, bringing comfort, and earning trust one job at a time.
That’s what Loyal Lab Electric & Generators is all about.
And as the industry changes, we’ll keep doing what we’ve always done: putting our hearts into every project, treating every customer like family, and taking pride in being your local electrical experts.
